Hittech Gieterij Nunspeet awarded with Bronze Sustainability Medal
Good news: our aluminium foundry now ranks among the top 35 per cent of over 130,000 companies evaluated by Ecovadis. However, Ruud Kleijn, the company’s Managing Director, is happy but not yet satisfied. “We are working hard to achieve the Ecovadis Silver Medal, which will bring us to the top 15 per cent,” he says.
We asked Ruud why the recognition is vital to the Hittech Gieterij Nunspeet. Ruud Kleijn: “Although we operate an industrial company, there are many opportunities to create a sustainable environment. For example, hardware investments such as air extraction ducts are required to reduce hazardous substance exposure, like the ones in the photo. We are making significant substitutional, technical and organisational improvements based on solid measurement overviews of workstations and comparing them to set limits. We appreciate that our efforts are being recognised. But like I said, we are already preparing for the next level. Remember our company’s mission: we are masters in improvement!”
EcoVadis is an international platform that assesses participants’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance. It evaluates environmental, ethical, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement practices.
