Hari Raya Celebration in Malaysia

The celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, marking the end of Ramadan, was a tasteful and rewarding event at Hittech Wemac in Malaysia, according to their HR Manager, Uvashini Vasuthaven-Shini.

Uvashini: β€˜Hari Raya Aidilfitri is the most important celebration for Muslims in Malaysia, marking the end of the holy month of fasting. It is a time of gratitude, forgiveness, and togetherness. During this festive season, we practice the tradition of β€œopen house,” where friends and family are welcomed to visit and share the joy. No celebration is complete without food; favourite dishes such as ketupat, rendang, satay, and a variety of traditional sweets bring people together and reflect the richness of our culture.

Another meaningful tradition is the giving of duit raya, small green packets shared as a gesture of kindness and goodwill, similar to the red envelopes in Chinese culture. I would also like to mention these special gift bags. They were given by the company and included duit raya and Raya cookies. It is a simple but thoughtful gesture, and it is truly appreciated.’
