Value engineering for long-term production

This UV reactor underwent value engineering to improve the product line and rationalise production. Paul Schut from Hittech Landes explains the process: β€œThe introduction of this UV reactor was very successful, and for many years, we partnered with our client, Priva, to manufacture it. We assembled a team to evaluate the current processes and design, drawing on our combined manufacturing expertise and customer feedback.”

Paul: “Our aim is not only to manufacture the system at a more competitive cost but also to maintain our high-quality standards and transition to more sustainable materials. We thoroughly examined the entire unit and generated several ideas for future developments. Some could be implemented immediately, while others would require a design change. This would need validation and thus more time.”

What are the results of the value-engineering process?

Paul Schut: β€œWe managed to reduce manufacturing costs, speed up assembly and rationalise the testing procedure without compromising quality. For future designs, we will use more sustainable materials, which will require validation and testing.”
