Dutch design principles for precision at LiS

Pieter Kappelhof, our Director of Technology, was invited to speak at the space instrumentation lecture programme at LiS (Leidse instrumentmakers School) a few weeks ago.

Together with Peter Paul Kooijman from SRON Space Research Organisation Netherlands, Pieter gave a one-day workshop on Dutch design principles for precision. Peter Paul outlined the basic principles, while Pieter linked theory and practice by presenting a wide range of examples and innovative solutions in opto-mechatronics, athermal design, and alignment mechanism design.

Pieter Kappelhof (in the photo): β€œThe Netherlands has a unique position and experience in precision engineering. Hittech is one of the companies where this expertise is applied at a high level and promoted wherever possible. We must train future generations in this discipline. The LIS offers an education that trains research instrument makers who will support industry and science in the development and realisation of new instruments and products.”
