Improvement in time-to-market

A well-prepared Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) can significantly shorten a product’s time-to-market”, says Jonno van der Donk, CFO of Qlayers. Together with Hittech Comac in Deurne (NL), Qlayers has produced coating robots for over five years.

We asked Jonno van der Donk why they let the Hittech Comac team do their acceptance tests. Jonno: “It is a combination of efficiency and trust. We save time when the Hittech Comac team can test during the production and assembly process, but that also requires a great deal of trust from our side. After five years of close cooperation, we were also ready to instruct them to test our electronic parts.”

Our colleague Jaap Vos (in the photo) oversees the production process of the coating robot at Hittech Comac. He articulates his motivations clearly: “Mistakes are always drivers of our improvement. We built the coating robot’s trailer and crawler, and now that we are testing the electronic equipment, we can quickly identify areas for enhancement. We promptly signal any faults and assess whether we can rectify them ourselves or if the Qlayers team will need to intervene. In the latter case, Qlayers can adjust before coming here for the final test, which saves time and money.”
